 Professional Alliance of Indian Radiographers (PAIR) Announces Director Board Formation

Working Together to Support Indian Origin Radiographers in the UK

London, UK – 01/08/2024 – The Professional Alliance of Indian Radiographers (PAIR), a dedicated network of Indian-origin radiographers working within the United Kingdom is pleased to announce the formation of its director board. This significant milestone marks a new chapter for radiographers from the Indian continent in the UK, providing a dedicated platform to support, empower, and connect professionals from shared cultural and professional backgrounds.

PAIR is committed to fostering a strong community of Indian-origin radiographers, offering a range of services including pastoral support, career guidance, and online sessions to assist those aspiring to build successful careers in the UK healthcare sector.

Key services offered by PAIR include:

  • Pastoral support: Providing emotional and practical assistance to members facing challenges in their professional and personal lives.
  • Career guidance: Offering expert advice and mentorship to help members navigate the complexities of the UK healthcare system and achieve their career goals.
  • Online sessions: Conducting informative webinars and workshops on various topics relevant to Indian radiographers, including professional development, cultural adaptation, and regulatory requirements.

About PAIR and its mission

PAIR is a special interest group under the Society of Radiographers (SoR) established to support and empower Indian-origin radiographers. The organisation aims to:

·         Foster a supportive network for Indian-origin radiographers in the UK.

·         Promote the professional development and career advancement of its members.

·   Celebrate and share the unique contributions of Indian radiographers to the UK healthcare system.

·     Advocate for the interests of Indian-origin radiographers within the wider healthcare community. 

·        Provide professional development opportunities and resources.

·         Promote cultural understanding and collaboration within the radiology profession.

A Community Built on Connection:

PAIR's journey began in January 2021 with the creation of a WhatsApp group, fostering a space for Indian radiographers in the UK to connect and support each other. This initiative resonated with the SoR, leading to PAIR's official recognition as a SIG in December 2023.

Empowering Radiographers:

PAIR serves as a valuable resource for its members. The organisation offers pastoral support to newly recruited radiographers, helping them navigate the professional landscape in the UK. Additionally, PAIR guides aspiring radiographers who are seeking to establish their careers within the UK healthcare system.

A Stepping Stone for the Future:

The formation of a director board marks a significant milestone for PAIR. This dedicated group of leaders will steer the  organisation’s future endeavours, ensuring continued support and growth for Indian-origin radiographers in the UK.
